Remittance Export: Send Payment Data to Your ERP Automatically

When a payment comes in, your ERP needs the remittance details to apply it. Remittance Export is the Billtrust tool that sends that data for you, on a schedule you set, in the format your system expects.

What it does

You set up an export once. Billtrust then creates a file of your remittance data and delivers it to where your team picks it up, such as an SFTP site, an email address, or cloud storage. It works with Cash Application, Invoicing & Payments and Collections, and Digital Lockbox.

Why it’s worth considering

  • Less manual work. Your team stops pulling and moving remittance data by hand.
  • Accurate data. Each payment is sent once, so your ERP doesn’t receive duplicates.
  • Fits your system. Choose from common file formats, including CSV, fixed width, BAI2, and EDI, and set the fields and column order your ERP expects.
  • Self-service. Your administrators build and manage exports themselves. If you’d rather not, Billtrust services can build one for you or guide you through it.
  • Visibility. Every run, change, and file is tracked, and files can be downloaded for 90 days.

What to know before you start

  • You build and test in a test environment first, then publish to production, so live exports stay stable.
  • A payment should go through Remittance Export or another method, such as the Remit API, but not both.
  • Administrator access is required, and the feature must be enabled for your account. Contact your Billtrust representative to confirm.
  • It’s usually set up by an administrator or someone on your IT/ERP team, who should have your ERP’s file specification on hand.

Is it a good fit?

It’s likely a good fit if your team needs remittance data in your ERP on a regular schedule and wants to cut manual steps. If you’re unsure, your Billtrust representative can help you decide.
